I am 26M and I get strong dating anxiety almost every time I try to meet someone new. Even after good texting or when a date is set I start overthinking everything. I worry about awkward silences saying something dumb or not being interesting enough. This makes me tense during the actual date and I cannot relax or be myself. Sometimes I even cancel last minute because the nerves get too intense.
I know I should just go with the flow but the fear of rejection or messing up is hard to shake. I have tried preparing topics in advance and reminding myself it is only one date yet the physical tension and racing thoughts still show up.
Has anyone here overcome serious dating anxiety? What techniques or mindset changes actually helped you stay calm and present? Did you find it got easier with more practice or was there something specific that made the difference?
